On this month’s cover we have the uber sultry Marlene Dietrich.
Born Marie Magdalene “Marlene” Dietrich on December 27th, 1901 in Berlin, Germany. She lived a long life, passing on May 6th, 1992 in her apartment in Paris, France at the age of 90.
Her police lieutenant father instilled a military attitude toward life in as she was growing. She was still a wild artist at heart though. It was this combination of discipline and creativity that propelled her career.
In her school days, Marlene was known for her “bedroom eyes.” It was then she learned how powerful her sexuality was. Dietrich even had an affair with one of her professors which got him terminated.
IT ALL BEGAN WITH THE EROTIC FILM THE BLUE ANGEL
Dietrich got her start performing on the stage and silent films in 1920s Berlin.
However, her performance as Lola-Lola in The Blue Angel , released in 1930, got her global attention. It was directed by Josef von Sternberg. She and von Sternberg became lovers during the filming of the movie.
It was considered an extremely erotic film. Not surprisingly, it brought her international fame and a contract with Paramount Pictures.
In 1924, she married Rudolf Sieber. The lived together for only 5 years, but they stayed married until his death in 1976. Dietrich may have been too untamed to stay faithful to one man forever as she was known to have multiple affairs with her leading men.
Dietrich starred in many Hollywood films.

She successfully traded on her glamorous persona and great talent, to became one of the highest-paid actresses of the era.
During World War II, she was a high-profile entertainer in the United States. Although, Dietrich spent most of the 1950s to the 1970s touring the world as a marquee live-show performer. She still made the occasional film after the war.
A HUMANITARIAN
Dietrich was known for her humanitarian efforts during the second World War. She housed German and French exiles, provided financial support and even advocated for their American citizenship.
For her work on raising morale on the front lines during WWII, she received honors from the United States, France, Belgium and Israel.
In 1999, the American Film Institute named Dietrich the ninth greatest female screen legend of classic Hollywood cinema.
The End Of Dietrich’s Life Was Spent In Seclusion… By Choice
Becoming the highest paid actress of her time was not without some failure. She had a series of successful films, as well as, failures. So, Marlene returned to Europe at the end of the 1930s, after a string of affairs with former leading men and prominent artistic figures.
Dietrich toured extensively for the allied effort in WW II as she had become a United States citizen by then. After the war, her cinematic life was limited.
However, a new career as a singer and performer grew, with shows in Las Vegas, touring theatricals, and even Broadway. At this point in her life she began to drink quite heavily.
The last 13 years of her life were spent in seclusion in her apartment in Paris, with the last 12 years in bed, she had withdrawn only from public life and maintained active telephone and correspondence contact with friends and associates.

The federal election is now just a few days away. It hope things don’t get too out of control, but too many people do not have control of their own minds, emotions and energy.
So, a large section of the population has become easy to control, since they don’t have control over themselves.
I mentioned this last month, but I’ll mention it again… stock up on canned goods and some water. As much as you can anyway.
IF things go as many have predicted there will be some food shortages and power outages.
In fact, it’s already happening in some places around the world and in the U.S.
